As I’m taking my walks, I try to be aware of my surroundings, soaking in the beauty of everyday moments. Life is too short not to savor the small things. One morning this summer, I altered my usual route and tried to pay particular attention to the different things I was seeing.
I was delighted to discover these roadside beauties. Various wildflowers (and some sunflowers planted by a neighbor). If I hadn’t been mindfully aware, they could have faded into the green backdrop of trees and shrubs. I would not have acknowledged their pops of color, nor the joy that they bring, much like the everyday moments of life that can fade into the gray background of our memories. Instead, I choose to savor each moment in the journey. One might say, I stop to smell the roses.
Remember the bright blessings of life. Don’t let the colors that are peppered throughout fade to gray. The brightness and color of life can pull us through the darkness and chaos that the world throws at us. Enjoy life to the fullest, both big moments and small. Cherish your family and friends. And above all, show LOVE.
Tip:
Try to find at least one thing in your day for which you can be thankful. You may be surprised how blessed you feel when you become aware of even the small joys that come your way.
